How to Choose the Right Pallet Rack System

1. Frame Capacity
Start by calculating the total weight of the pallets stored per bay, not including any pallets that sit directly on the floor. This ensures your upright frames can safely support the load.

2. Height Requirements
Measure the total height by combining the pallet height, the height of the load, and the beam height. Add at least 4 inches of clearance above the load for safe handling. Make sure the top beam is positioned at least 6 inches below your forklift’s maximum lifting height.

3. Frame Depth
To ensure proper support, your pallet should overhang by 3 inches on each side of the frame. Subtract 6 inches from the pallet depth to determine the correct frame depth.

4. Beam Width (Bay Width)
Allow for 3 inches of clearance between the pallet and the frame, and 4 inches between each pallet. This ensures easy access and safe spacing. Confirm that each pair of beams can fully support the total pallet weight across the bay.
