Guidelines for Selecting the Right Storage Rack System

  1. Frame Capacity:
Calculate the total weight of all pallets in each bay, excluding those resting on the floor. This ensures the rack can safely support your storage requirements.

  2. Height:
Measure the full vertical space required, including the height of the pallet, pallet load, and beam. Ensure there is at least 4 inches of clearance between the top of the load and the bottom of the beam above. Additionally, the top beam should be positioned at least 6 inches below your forklift's maximum lifting height for safe operation.

  3. Depth:
To ensure proper fit and load distribution, pallets should overhang the frame by 3 inches at both the front and back. As a rule of thumb, subtract 6 inches from the total pallet depth when selecting frame depth (e.g., for a 48" pallet, use a 42" deep frame). Pallets must be in good condition to ensure safety and stability.

  4. Width:
Determine the correct beam length by measuring the width of the pallet, adding at least 3 inches of clearance between the pallet and the frame, and ensuring 4 inches of space between adjacent pallets. Each pair of beams must support the total weight of the pallets on that level. For add-on sections, only one additional frame and the necessary number of beams are required.
