✅ How to Determine the Correct Rack Sizing
1. Frame Capacity
Calculate the total weight of all pallets stored within a single bay—excluding any pallets resting on the floor. This total determines the required load capacity of your upright frame.
2. Height
Measure from the floor to the top of your tallest pallet load. Include the height of the pallet itself, the load, and the beam height. Add a 4" clearance between the top of the load and the bottom of the beam above it. Ensure the top beam is at least 6" below your forklift’s maximum lifting height.
3. Depth
For standard 48" deep pallets, choose a 42" deep frame, allowing a 3" overhang at the front and back. Always subtract 6" from your pallet depth to find the correct frame depth. Make sure all pallets are in good condition for safe storage.
4. Width
Start with the pallet width. Add at least 3" clearance between the pallet and the frame on both sides, and 4" between adjacent pallets. This will help you determine the right beam length. Every pair of beams must support the total pallet weight per level. For add-on sections, you’ll only need one additional frame and the necessary number of beams.
